Matt is a Principal at Lexington Partners, one of world’s largest independent managers of secondary private equity and co-investment funds. At Lexington, Matt primarily focuses on technology investing, with an emphasis on acquiring limited partnership interests in venture capital and growth equity funds and direct stakes in high-growth venture-backed technology companies.
Prior to Lexington Partners, Matt co-founded Data Marketplace, an online marketplace for tabular data. Data Marketplace was angel backed and participated in the winter 2010 Y-Combinator incubator program. In 2010, Data Marketplace was acquired by InfoChimps. InfoChimps was acquired by CSC in 2013.
Prior to Data Marketplace, Matt was an investor at Genstar Capital, a middle market private equity investment firm. At Genstar, Matt engaged in various aspects of private equity investing, including industry mapping, sourcing, due diligence, deal execution, deal financing, strategy development and company oversight.
Prior to Genstar, Matt worked in investment banking in New York at J.P. Morgan where he provided strategic merger and acquisition advisory services to leading companies. Matt was also a member of J.P. Morgan’s corporate defense team.
Matt studied Finance at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business where he received a Bachelor of Science in 2005. Matt was a member of the Indiana University Hutton Honors College and co-founded the Cheshire Cafe located at the Collins Living-Learning Center at Indiana University.
In addition to investing, Matt enjoys solving problems with software. Matt has been programming since childhood and enjoys developing Ruby on Rails and node.js apps. Matt also enjoys playing tennis, squash, snow skiing and sailing. Matt and his wife Rachel married in September 2015 and had their daughter Eliza in March 2018.
